Tough Decisions - PrintIT! Select Finalists for Awards Ceremony at Northprint

Release date: 04.04.2011

A panel of printing industry representatives joined The Fairtrade Foundation and Proskills at Canon UK’s London-based showroom recently to shortlist the finalist entries and category winners for the PrintIT! 2010/11 Competition. This year, over 16,700 students from 350 schools across the country registered to take part in PrintIT! Following an initial first phase selection from all the student workbooks entered, the industry judging panel was tasked with selecting three finalist submissions for each of the seven prize categories.

The three shortlisted finalists from the seven competition categories, together with their teachers and parents, will be invited to attend Northprint, where the final category winners will be announced and PrintIT! sponsors will present individual prizes for students as well as print-related prizes for their schools. The overall winner of PrintIT! 2010/11 will also be announced at the awards ceremony at Northprint on the 12th May, and will be chosen by the judges from the category winners.

“The quality of entries has continued to increase ever since PrintIT! began in 2005 and the entries this year have proved no exception,” says Tom Bowtell, General Manager, Proskills. “Once again, the impressive number of students that registered this year continues to reflect the huge commitment and enthusiasm that pupils throughout the UK have for the PrintIT! concept. Standards have been raised once again and the finalists can rightly be extremely proud of their achievements.”

Wayne Barlow, Professional Print Channel Director, Canon UK and Chairman of PrintIT! adds, “It’s been a delight to be involved in PrintIT! 2010/11 because the talent, ideas and fresh approach that pupils have demonstrated in this year’s competition has really been inspirational. These young people, and others like them, are the future of our industry and certainly the level of interest and determination shown by those entering the PrintIT! 2010/11 Competition has been very encouraging. I think the judges have all felt that it was a privilege to be involved in choosing the finalists, although the standard of entries was so high that it proved to be a very difficult task!”
