Canon urges visitors to make a leap at Ipex 2010

Release date: 19.05.2010

Aiming to inspire visitors to make a leap of confidence to new business opportunities, Canon Europe has its largest ever Ipex presence this year. Canon is showcasing its most comprehensive and technologically advanced portfolio of professional print solutions and is offering visitors structured business development consultancy through its Essential Business Builder Program

Maintaining its commitment to the professional print industry, Canon is also demonstrating a range of innovative technologies that deliver increased productivity and flexibility to support customers in their drive for greater profitability and business performance.

Canon’s new flagship colour production printer series, the imagePRESS C7010VP (See separate press release dated 19th May) will be on the stand.  Producing faster output on a wider range of stocks, the new series, which also includes the imagePRESS C6010VP and C6010, delivers enhanced uptime and offers commercial printers, print-for-pay businesses and Central Reprographics Departments (CRD) the scope to produce a broader array of applications.

The new imagePRESS C7010VP is one of a number of colour and monochrome digital presses on the stand running live customer jobs managed by Helix Production Workflow, version 2, which is being launched at Ipex (See separate press release dated 19th May).  Helix now offers CRDs and print-for-pay businesses an even more powerful package of web-to-print and production workflow software.  The imageRUNNER ADVANCE PRO series of colour light production engines is on show to an international audience for the first time, as is its black and white counterpart, the recently launched imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8000 series (See separate press release dated 20th April).  Both series provide versatile and affordable entry points into digital production printing and meet customer needs for high productivity and quality with a faster return on investment.

For commercial printers and CRDs looking to harness the business potential of large format applications, Canon is exhibiting a number of its imagePROGRAF printers, including the first showing of the recently announced imagePROGRAF iPF8300 (See separate press release dated 11th March).  The 44 inch wide printer enables precise ink placement and Canon’s 12-colour LUCIA EX pigment ink system produces prints with increased accuracy and an extended colour range to fulfil professional users' demands for more sophisticated print quality.

Canon is also using Ipex as a platform to launch its third Insight Report (See separate press release dated 19th May).  The survey, entitled Redefinition of the Digital Printer reveals that the printers who are exiting the recession in the best shape are those who acquired a digital printing capability and, in particular, those who moved into wide format inkjet printing during the recession.

All the presses on Canon’s stand are networked to a real production, services and support hub, allowing visitors to see how Canon responds to genuine technical and production challenges. Canon will be guiding visitors physically and visually along the Path to Profit showing the digital print value chain towards the services and applications that will help them to differentiate themselves from competitors.  In the Leap Customer Gallery, visitors can find real-world examples of Canon customers who have themselves made the ‘leap’ by redefining their offering or pursuing innovative business models, applications or revenue streams to take their businesses forward.

“Ipex 2010 presents the ideal opportunity for print service providers to seek out the latest digital technologies and business development tools to help them make the leap to new production processes, revenue streams and markets,” comments David Preskett, Professional Print Director, Canon Europe. “Throughout the show, we’ll be demonstrating our expertise and leadership to reinforce that we are the ideal partner in making that leap.”
