FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigetaka Komori) today announces the introduction of a new surface treatment technology called “MultiGrain Z” that is set to be used in the manufacture of its processless printing plate. This new manufacturing process is unique to Fujifilm, and allows for the creation of an even greater effective surface area of the plate, which will result in up to a 50% improvement in run length for the company’s revolutionary new Brillia HD PRO-T3 processless plate, while retaining the superior ink / water balance, on press processing stability and market leading image quality.

Brillia HD PRO-VN plates allow for fast, low-chemistry newspaper production

Midland News Association (MNA), printer of the UK’s biggest-selling regional newspaper, Shropshire Star and Express and Star, has chosen Fujifilm’s Brillia PRO-VN plate to run on a newly installed Krause LS Jet 350 CTP line, also supplied by Fujifilm. The agency had to invest in an additional plate-making line when it moved all its printed work, which had previously been produced at three different sites, to its plant in Ketley, Telford in 2011.

Large-format digital specialist OMMprint has invested in an Inca Onset S40 digital flatbed printer from Fujifilm, increasing capacity and fulfilling a strategy to enter new markets, including PoP/POS and packaging. Installation of the high-performance, high-quality printer, which replaced one of OMMprint’s two existing Inca Columbia flatbed printers, has recently been completed at the Slough-based company, which is part of integrated marketing services provider the OMM Group.
