2010 Awards Showcase the Innovation of FESPA'S Global Print Community

Release date: 02.07.2010

The top winners of FESPA’s 2010 Awards received their prizes at the Gala Dinner at Munich’s Nockherberg on Friday 25th June.

The prize for Best in Show went to Switzerland’s Atelier für Siebdruck for their entry ‘David Schwarz’ in the Fine Art Reproductions, Books and Brochures (single/multi colour) category. The photographer’s images were reproduced in quad-tone and black-and-white and included the use of metallic inks.

The Runner Up Award was won by Russia’s Midi Print for the category Calendars, Postcards, Greetings and Christmas Cards (process colours).

The Michel Caza People’s Choice Award, a new award introduced for FESPA 2010, went to AB Screens from India for its entry in the category Special Effects Printed on T-shirts and other garments (single/multi colour).

Nigel Steffens, FESPA’s Managing Director comments, “This year we were delighted that the awards attracted more than 450 entries from members of FESPA’s national associations around the world. The jury, which consisted of technical screen and digital print experts as well as top industry editors, remarked on the high calibre of the entries, and the excellence of the screen printed entries was second-to-none.

“Encouragingly, a high proportion of award entries came from emerging markets including India, Thailand and Russia, underlining the quality and dynamism of screen print production in these countries.”

Russian printers scooped 19 gold, silver and bronze awards across 11 categories. Midiprint, from Moscow, made a particularly strong showing with a total of eight category awards.  Indian printers won nine awards and two youth awards, while printers from Thailand took gold in two categories. Switzerland also featured strongly, with Atelier für Siebdruck in particular collecting 16 awards. Multi award-winning Swedish textile printer Tobex once again clinched three awards.

The shortlisted entries were enthusiastically received by visitors to FESPA 2010, who had the opportunity to browse the entries in an open gallery in the show’s Atrium entrance.
