Response Analysis & Mailing Addresses Green Issues Through Further Investment In Domino Equipment
Release date: 07.12.2007
In order to increase productivity and assist its customers in addressing issues surrounding climate change, North London based Response Analysis & Mailing (RAM) has recently added a Domino K100 variable data drop on demand printer with two heads to its portfolio of Domino equipment, which also includes a JetArray and two Editor GT controllers. The new high-speed, high-quality ink jet printers provide an ideal solution for printing address details directly on to one piece mailers, without the need for outer paper or polythene wrappers.
The volume mailing, polythene wrapping and response fulfilment division of the Westex Group of companies, RAM has been working for some time with the government to raise awareness within industry about how even small changes to working practices can have an effect on climate change. With green issues such as this currently taking centre stage within both Westminster and the business community, RAM is aiming to reduce waste and increase efficiency wherever possible, and has purchased the K100s to assist in fulfilling this objective.
Benefiting from a range of design and performance enhancements, Domino's versatile K-Series delivers fast, high resolution variable data, graphics, logos, bar and 2D Data Matrix codes, without compromising on print quality. In addition, its flexible configuration allows for easy integration into existing production lines, to provide in-line quality print and graphics on to a variety of substrates, including glossy and plastic/film. The K100 provides a cost effective and versatile digital ink jet solution which allows the print resolution and running speed to be optimised by simply changing the angle of the print head.
Laurence Bastien, Managing Director of RAM says 'We have enjoyed a steady growth, to become one of the most respected names in the industry today. Our hands-on approach to the management of mailing projects allows us to remain close to the changing trends in the market and the needs of our customers. Increasingly, clients are focussing on the impact direct marketing activity has on the environment, and with marketing budgets in general being reduced it is important to find more cost effective methods for personalisation of mailers.'
RAM predicts that the use of re-cycled and biodegradable materials is likely to increase in the future, while the size of individual mailing cells will decrease due to more precise targeting. The company therefore requires versatile machinery with wide tolerance for different types of material and efficient set up and operation, to ensure it is able to meet changes quickly and with the minimum of disruption to production. The flexible Domino K100 can be configured to suit a range of inks, such as UV-curable for printing glossy, high impact text, graphics and logos where visual impact is a key consideration, and low-VOC solvent inks where tamper-proof print is the priority. It is also capable of handling spot colour printing, giving greater flexibility in print applications on a wider variety of substrates.
'We have chosen to install the K100s in addition to the Domino JetArray we have used since 2002, due to the reliability and quality of Domino's products,' says Laurence Bastien. 'Our aim is to constantly be at the forefront of developments in our industry and this purchase represents the first stage in a major review of all machinery we operate. The improved quality and increase in productivity we anticipate from this investment will result in greater efficiency and cost savings which can in turn be passed on to our clients.'
The K-Series also benefits from Domino's intuitive Editor GT ink jet production line controller. Based on the Microsoft Windows® XP platform, the Editor GT combines data preparation and management tools for in-line printing of addresses, personalised data, graphics, unique and serialised numbers and codes and can network up to sixteen K100 print-heads.
'In the K100, Response Analysis & Mailing has chosen an extremely versatile high performance product, capable of handling some of the most challenging print applications with ease.' says Philip Easton, Product Director of Commercial Print at Domino Printing Sciences plc. 'Whether the requirement is high resolution graphics, complex variable data or sequential numbering, the K-Series can present a fast, high quality and cost-effective solution within existing production situations.'
