Graph Expo 2007 Debutant Enjoys Successful First Year
Release date: 28.10.2008
Launched at Graph Expo 2007, Domino Amjet's L400 thermal ink jet (TIJ) printer has enjoyed a highly successful first year. One of the first companies to take advantage of the patented TIJ technology is Kentucky based Blue Grass Mailing Service, which installed the new L400 to underpin further growth through increased throughput and improved print quality.
With its patented state-of-the-art dual nozzle technology, the L400 offers a print resolution/print speed combination unmatched by competing systems - in fact, it can deliver up to twice the throughput in the same amount of time. For example, at 600 x 300 dpi, the L400 prints 380 feet per minute and offers an extremely competitive price-to-performance ratio.
Delivering unparalleled performance for printing addresses and other targeted variable information on direct mail, catalogs and magazines, the L400 also offers the capability to print to all USPS postal standards, including the USPS Intelligent Mail® Barcode, which provides a key advantage for Blue Grass.
Bill Nichols, Jr., Marketing Director for Blue Grass is enthusiastic about the results achieved by the printer, saying, 'The performance of the L400 is great. The print quality is exceptional, and we're happy with the dry times on a wide variety of substrates.'
By incorporating the latest mail processing machines Blue Grass ensures it always takes advantage of cutting edge technology. 'Our current throughput averages 10,000 to 15,000 pieces per hour. With growing opportunities and expanded production requirements, the L400 was a logical addition, as it enables Blue Grass to provide faster turnaround times, thereby allowing us to take on additional jobs,' says Bill Nichols, Jr.
Blue Grass and Domino have also worked together on some software modifications to bring the system to its full potential. 'With the print quality and ability to print up to 4' of text, graphics, and of course, bar codes, these benefits have really established the L400 as the address printer of choice for us,' Bill Nichols, Jr. concludes.
Easily integrated into mail bases, the L400 is equally compatible with envelope inserters, folders and narrow print webs, delivering high print quality across every personalization application in the mailing and bindery sectors. At Graph Expo this flexibility will be demonstrated through applications on a mail table and a Longford feeder on booth # 2241, as well as in the mailing fulfillment section on booth # 2693.
