Domino Demonstrates Productivity Of Bitjet+ At Cartes 2007
Release date: 13.11.2007
On stand 3F 094, Domino Printing Sciences Plc is demonstrating its Bitjet+ binary printer, which can be integrated seamlessly into existing card production lines, to provide unparalleled standards of uninterrupted personalisation at extremely high speeds. This makes the Bitjet+ particularly suited for inline plastic card printing of individual addresses, serialised card numbering, membership and expiry details, graphics and barcodes.
The Bitjet+ provides very high standards in terms of productivity and continuous print-run time achieved, resulting in maximum production uptime efficiency. Additionally, users are afforded greater advantages in ink compatibility as, in addition to MEK variants, the Bitjet+ offers a black acetone option. Using this ink the printer complies with legislation in a growing number of countries on Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Additionally, the range of compatible substrates on to which the Bitjet+ can print, is greatly increased using the fast-drying, low VOC acetone option. These include coated paper, plastic and film, making it the ideal choice for the plastic card sector.
Integrated seamlessly into existing production lines and printing at 4m/second, the Domino Bitjet+ system offers high definition quality up to the full 54mm (2.13**) band heights. In addition, the excellent adhesion properties of the ink makes its' print output very secure and tamper-proof, which is vital where security is a key consideration.
Domino has pioneered the introduction of a ceramic charge electrode on the Bitjet+ to offer increased reliability and improved print quality through smoother ink break-off and lay-down. The more robust ceramic charge electrode offers greater longevity before replacement and suffers less wear, significantly reducing service costs.
To reduce the length of start-up and improve efficiency through increased machine uptime, the Bitjet+ features a temperature control algorithm. This function enables it to reach its optimum temperature more quickly and increases stability by ensuring that it remains within a reduced temperature range.
The Domino Bitjet+ is operated from the advanced Domino Editor GT Windows® XP based controller, using TCP/IP protocol. The Editor GT combines data preparation and management tools for in-line printing of addresses, personalized data, graphics, unique and serialized numbers and codes. If required, different Domino printers can be managed by the same controller.
Philip Easton, Product Director of Commercial Print at Domino Printing Sciences plc, concludes, 'The key benefits of the Bitjet+ to the plastic card market come from its ability to delivery extremely high print speeds, combined with the highly durable, tamper-proof quality print which is proving more and more popular with many manufacturers in the drive to combat crime and counterfeiting. In addition, it's flexibility and scalability allow the Bitjet+ to adapt to handling the ever-changing print demands of the future.'
