BAPC 2007 Conference goes CarbonZero!
Release date: 04.10.2007
The BAPC is delighted to announce that this year's BAPC conference, taking place over the weekend of 2nd November at the Crowne Plaza in Marlow, Bucks, will be officially certified CarbonZero by respected carbon management organization, co2balance.com.
'As an industry body we have a duty to act responsibly when it comes to the environment,' explains Sidney Bobb, BAPC Chairman. 'This year our conference is taking the lead and we've been working with co2balance.com to reduce the impact of the event and offset unavoidable emissions.
co2balance.com aims to help businesses minimise their carbon emissions and offset the unavoidable residue. Offsetting works by investing funds in sequestration or energy efficiency projects that absorb or prevent the release of a tonnage of CO2 equivalent to a company's Carbon Footprint.
'With so many schemes to choose from it is important to find one that will accurately measure your CO2 emissions and then determine how to reduce and offset them through projects that are both ethical and credible. In the case of the conference this will be by planting trees in Tinners Forest, near the Cornish village of Roche', continues Bobb.
The BAPC 2007 conference programme is set to include a line-up of leading printing industry speakers, including Canon UK managing director Andy Vickers, Heidelberg UK managing director George Clarke and Kodak GCG UK director Dave Wigfield.
A key aspect of the agenda and overall theme of the conference will look at 'What the future holds for the industry', in which futurologist James Bellini will address delegates and predict some of the issues to be faced by the industry. The event will also feature a guest appearance from entrepreneur Mike Southon, while comedian Ian Irving will entertain guests during the gala awards dinner.
'We are delighted that, to the best of our knowledge, this will be the first CarbonZero conference for the print industry', adds Bobb. 'In keeping with this environmental stance, we would encourage delegates to support our efforts when it comes to travel and, where possible, leave the car behind!'
Tickets to the BAPC 2007 Conference are £115 + VAT per person, but delegates benefit from a special two-for-one offer which allows a second delegate to attend free-of-charge (offer excludes directors and partners). The BAPC has also negotiated special hotel rates with the Crowne Plaza for those wishing to stay overnight.
