Visitors to the Print 09 booth of UK manufacturer Autobond will be able to see demonstrations of one of the most sophisticated sheet-fed laminators on the market - the Mini 76 TPHS (thermal, perfector, Heidelberg feeder and stacker). This B1 portrait machine has the ability to laminate one or two sides in one pass and is fitted with a rising pile, back separation Speedmaster 74 feed head, enabling it to accurately handle a wide range of stock at high speeds.

Dutch printer Opmeer BV has celebrated its 40th anniversary with the installation of an Autobond Mini 76 T and even though the new laminator is in use only three times a week, the company is delighted with the significant benefits it has achieved.

Autobond has developed a stand alone cross cutter - the CC 76 - that can be used with any make of sheet-fed laminator or encapsulator, the first time the UK manufacturer has introduced a product that can be integrated with competitors' equipment. The first model to be built at the Derbyshire factory is due to be delivered to a customer in Toronto during June, where it will be linked with both a Billhofer laminator and Autofeeds encapsulator to produce mouse-mats.

Autobond's research and development team have been working overtime recently and the company says it will be launching several additions to its already extensive range of laminators during the coming months. The first of these new products is the Mini 76 AT, which is a combination water-based/thermal laminator aimed at markets where companies want to run a bio-degradable film and/or labour costs are generally lower, but runs lengths often higher, than in Europe.

UK manufacturer Autobond, which leads the world in sheet-fed laminator technology, has appointed Beswick Office Products (Pty) Ltd to represent it in the growing South African print market. The Autobond distributorship comes under Beswick Office Products Print Finishing Division, which provides trade finishers, printers, copyshops and in-house facilities management companies with a full range of lamination, binding and related finishing products.

There are perhaps not too many people who would put a sheet-fed laminator near the top of their 'wish list' but Peter Tubb, managing director of Durban finishing house UVP Pro Bind, has been buying Autobond machines for more than 25 years and wouldn't consider any other manufacturer.

A recent development from Derbyshire manufacturer Autobond opens the door to sheet-fed packaging printers looking for a less expensive method of producing jobs that incorporate metalised board. The launch of a cross cutter with the ability to handle substrates up to 250 micron polyester provides the opportunity for printers to apply metalised film on low cost board using a standard Autobond Mini laminator.
